It hadn't rained a drop in over 10 months. I was on horseback, the only way to get to the mountain village of Gardon in Haiti's drought-stricken north-west, where famine was reaching a critical state, riding with several Haitian ministry partners, our shoulders brushed with withered trees that dropped their few remaining curled and brittle brown leaves into the dust below.

Today, an incredible 20 million people are affected by flooding; that's more homelessness and suffering than the total of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, 2005 Kashmir earthquake and the 2010 Haiti Earthquake, combined.

Ways to help Pakistan
North-west Pakistan has been experiencing some of the worst floods in the nation's history. So far, over 4 million people have been affected. Rescuers are trying to evacuate over 500,000 people from some of the lower lying regions of Sindh and Punjab - while hundreds of thousands of others have already lost their homes.
