Thank you to all of you who donated at the I-HEART Food Drives in Milwaukee, St. Charles, Tulsa, Austin, and Indianapolis during the Hillsong UNITED tour in June. Through the help of a range of organizations in association with Feeding America, your donations went straight to families that need help the most.
Over the last few weeks, our blog has highlighted the often unrecognized, unspoken and unaddressed food crisis is very real and exists across the United States, including each of the 5 locations Hillsong UNITED visited on tour.
The US Census Bureau reports that 14.3% of America's population or around 43 million people are living in poverty and therefore regularly face hunger. Around 35 million people across America are presently suffering from food insecurity. As alarming as these numbers are, they are expected to rise over the coming years as the full impact of the economic downturn is taken into account.
Facts like these show why your contributions this last month meant so much. Those food banks would be unable to operate without the support of individuals like you.
Your contribution made all the difference. Because of you, the hungry across the country were fed.
