Ways to help Haiti
By the I-HEART people17 Jan 2010

This is the space where we'll keep you up to date with what's the latest on Haiti + ways that YOU can help.
On January 12, a series of earthquakes measuring 6.5 to 7.3 on the Richter scale devastated Haiti. 222,570 are dead, a further 250,000 were injured and 1.3 MILLION with nowhere to sleep. A third of Haiti’s 9 million people may be in need of aid. Almost half of all the buildings in the capital of Port-au-Prince and other hard-hit areas were damaged or destroyed. If everyONE matters, how will you respond? Let's all;
1. PRAY
2. DONATE
We are currently working on ways that we, TOGETHER, can collaboratively contribute to the rebuilding and restorative effort. Until then, here are some links to help your generosity take flight. Each red link below will take you directly to each donation page. The choice is yours, but please DO SOMETHING.

Re: Ways to help Haiti
Agree whole-heartedly that in order to be most effective, this effort must be coordinated through organizations that already have feet on the ground in Haiti, who already know the ins-and-outs of the country, and who are professionals at maximizing our resources and channeling them to where the need is greatest. Thank you for profiling such organizations and encouraging people to give via them.
The enthusiasm and compassion that is pouring out of so many hearts is truly beautiful! I can understand especially people wanting to be on-the-ground, in the thick of it, truly helping by getting their hands dirty. I personally would love nothing more than to be tending to the sick in Haiti.... But right now the best way we can be the hands and feet of Jesus is by getting resources into the hands of trained professionals, and giving them feet to get to where there is need. When the initial aftermath is more sorted out, there will be great opportunity for us to send teams of builders to Haiti to "rebuild the ancient ruins, and restore the streets in which to dwell."
Let us give generously, and keep giving even when the dust settles and the cameras leave.

There are tears. desperate tears. people who do not know whether they live or are in hell, so much desolation!
did he hear cries are cries of ... are kids looking for their parents ... are parents looking for their children.
is something that causes resentment and intrigue at the same time by asking ... because in haiti?

Re: Ways to help Haiti
Me and my family donated money to aid the people of Haiti. It felt so good to know that we as a family did our best to help those who have so little and those who lost so much. But there is other was we can give! we can pray and lift up the people in haiti who have lost everything, EVERYTHING!! Our prayers can change circumstances!

Re: Ways to help Haiti
Reading this I get a little overwhelmed by numbers....undeniably, they are big and they are lots of 'em.
But lets remember that behind each number is a face, a life, a story, a past, a present and a future that is yet to be lived (and has been dramatically altered because of this disaster). Each number is an individual life, a person that God lovingly hand-crafted, our brother, our sister.
I personally pray that the people of Haiti know that they are not alone and are not forgotten. We, your family, stand in the gap for you. All is not lost...love prevails.

Re: Ways to help Haiti
I agree with Clauds, I"m overwhelmed by numbers... But I pray God would comfort each every one of them and bring hope and peace into their hearts. And I pray God will protect that nation and do miracles in everyone's situation... Our God is a good God.
