Driving through rural Alabama, we were behind a school bus that was dropping off kids after school. It must have stopped 20 times. Each time at a run down house, trailer or bus stop where parents had gathered. It was so sad to see the living conditions of these families and what these kids have to deal with while trying to get an education and be a kid. I couldn't help but wonder how each family might need something to help get them just a little leg up or breathing room.

Build a website that allows families needing help (financial, food, specific items or services) the chance to post their needs so they can be matched up with others that list how they're willing to help, either through their time, services or donating physical items. Parents can post on them through their local church or school to help prevent fraud. That way the facility can help match local givers or go to the online network and find a match.
